Life-saving Adoption Event Set for APRIL 11TH 2010
AMARILLO –APRIL 11TH 2010 - North Shore Animal League America’s Tour For Life 2010, a national initiative to save the lives of innocent animals, will arrive in AMARILLO to partner with the AMARILLO PANHANDLE HUMANE SOCIETY for a special pet adoption event on APRIL 11TH 2010 from 1pm to 4pm at the Amarillo Tri State Fairgrounds The world’s largest mobile pet adoption event, Tour For Life in partnership with Purina® ONE®, aims to reinforce the importance and advantages of shelter adoptions.
Shelter dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be available for adoption at the event. In addition to finding loving homes for the animals, this event will inform the public of the many educational and life-saving services available to pet owners at the AMARILLO PANHANDLE HUMANE SOCIETY : there will be a LOW COST RABIES DRIVE FROM 2-4 PM $5.00 ANIMALS MUST BE ON LEASH OR IN CRATES ONLY PLEASE !!! DISCOUNT MICRO CHIPPING FOR $20.00 !!! SEVERAL PETS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION… LIVE ENTERTAINMENT…SEVERAL ANIMAL VENDORS WILL BE ON HAND TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR SERVICES AND HAND OUT SAMPLES ….CONTESTS, CAR SHOW, PRIZES AND FUN!!
Throughout March and April, Tour For Life will be on its life-saving mission across America, helping over 100 shelters and rescue groups find homes for orphaned pets. Tour For Life ends with a “Grand Finale” event, hosted by Mýa in New York City on Friday, April 23.

About : The Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society is a charitable organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals , the care for lost, strayed, sick, or injured animals and the education of responsible pet ownership. Founded in 1954, the society, in cooperation with the Amarillo Animal Control & Shelter adopted over 2300 homeless dogs & cats, along with a few horses & the occasional farm or exotic pet. GET YOUR LICKS ON ROUTE 66 |

(Amarillo, TX & Panhandle area) – 06-17-09 - North Shore Animal League America and FIDO Friendly Magazine have joined forces for “Get Your Licks on Route 66.” The national pet adoption tour presented by Purina® and the One Hope Network will travel the length of Route 66 from California to Illinois. The adoption tour will arrive in (Amarillo) to partner with (Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society) for a special adoption event on (June 17th, 2009) from (11am-2pm at (Walmart 45th& Coulter then 3pm-7pm @ Westgate Mall 7701 I 40 West). The Amarillo Humane Society has extended an invitation to the Amarillo SPCA and Animal Rescue Shelter as well !!!
The Animal League’s 36-foot mobile adoption unit will travel across nine states, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Michigan, to partner with local shelters to raise national awareness of the plight of homeless pets, and promote and increase pet adoptions. The tour will also raise funds for shelter partners so they can save even more lives.
The spacious air-conditioned mobile unit kicks off its life saving mission on June 6 in Los Angeles, CA, making more than 15 stops across the states, culminating with a finale event in Chicago, IL on July 1. An event wrap party will follow in Grand Rapids, MI.

In addition to finding loving homes for the animals, this event will inform the public of the many educational and life-saving services available to pet owners thru (Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society, such as A.K.C. microchips that will be offered on site for just $30.00!!! pets on leashes or in crates please!!).
The “Get Your Licks on Route 66” tour’s presenting sponsors are Purina® and the One Hope Network, with supporting sponsors, BISSELL®, 3M Company, Toyota®, LaQuinta Inns and Suites, and Animal Radio. (Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society), The Animal League (the world’s largest rescue and adoption organization which finds homes for approximately 20,000 orphaned animals annually), and the sponsors share a goal to help transform the lives of pets by finding loving homes through increased adoptions with the participating shelters and rescue groups.

Hello everyone !!!
First of all we would like to Thank everyone that helped us have the most successful vaccination clinics ever!!!
To our faithful Volunteers we could never even pull off our regular day to day activities with out all your generosity and time, especially such a huge community outreach like our Vaccination Clinics . We were able to provide low cost vaccinations to over 4000 pets and their families with our annual Vaccination clinic and our joint effort with our neighbors Amarillo's Animal Control Department for world Rabies day !!! The Humane Society's goal is to rehome all the stray, unwanted,abused & abandoned animals and serve our community through education on proper pet care & implement several programs to meet the needs of our ever changing world.
