The Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society has been serving Amarillo and the 26 Tri-State County area since 1954. The goal of the Humane Society is to promote humane education and proper pet care and responsibility to the citizens of the Texas Panhandle. The Humane Society offers many services to the community.
As a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, we operate on donations which stay here in the Panhandle area to benefit the animals in the Panhandle. If you are interested in making a donation please click here for more information.
We are not a branch of other humane organizations and operate according to our bylaws and a board of directors.

Arrives in Amarillo, TX to assist local shelters in finding homes for pets.
Life-saving Adoption Event Set for APRIL 11TH 2010
AMARILLO –APRIL 11TH 2010 - North Shore Animal League America’s Tour For Life 2010, a national initiative to save the lives of innocent animals, will arrive in AMARILLO to partner with the AMARILLO PANHANDLE HUMANE SOCIETY for a special pet adoption event on APRIL 11TH 2010 from 1pm to 4pm at the Amarillo Tri State Fairgrounds The world’s largest mobile pet adoption event, Tour For Life in partnership with Purina® ONE®, aims to reinforce the importance and advantages of shelter adoptions.
Shelter dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be available for adoption at the event. In addition to finding loving homes for the animals, this event will inform the public of the many educational and life-saving services available to pet owners at the AMARILLO PANHANDLE HUMANE SOCIETY : there will be a LOW COST RABIES DRIVE FROM 2-4 PM $5.00 ANIMALS MUST BE ON LEASH OR IN CRATES ONLY PLEASE !!! DISCOUNT MICRO CHIPPING FOR $20.00 !!! SEVERAL PETS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION… LIVE ENTERTAINMENT…SEVERAL ANIMAL VENDORS WILL BE ON HAND TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR SERVICES AND HAND OUT SAMPLES ….CONTESTS, CAR SHOW, PRIZES AND FUN!!
Throughout March and April, Tour For Life will be on its life-saving mission across America, helping over 100 shelters and rescue groups find homes for orphaned pets. Tour For Life ends with a “Grand Finale” event, hosted by Mýa in New York City on Friday, April 23.

About : The Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society is a charitable organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals , the care for lost, strayed, sick, or injured animals and the education of responsible pet ownership. Founded in 1954, the society, in cooperation with the Amarillo Animal Control & Shelter adopted over 2300 homeless dogs & cats, along with a few horses & the occasional farm or exotic pet. We help unite pet owners with lost pets through our lost & found service, and offer several discounted spay & neuter programs . Certified animal cruelty volunteer investigators work hundreds of animal cruelty reports to improve living conditions for all animals in the Texas Panhandle. We have micro chipped over 18,000 pets providing permanent identification, held annual low cost vaccination clinics to the community and many, many other services to the community to help promote responsible pet ownership. |
